Yu Tsai defines multifaceted. His boundless curiosity has led him from a career in biology to being one of the most sought-after fashion and celebrity photographers in the world. Along the way, this ArtCenter alum has also worked as a creative director, commercial director, and judge on various TV shows including America’s Next Top Model.

Currently, he hosts a food show, commercially produces a hot sauce of his own creation, and even has his own podcast called “Let’s Talk,” where he celebrates a wide range of media professionals from the Asian, LGBTQ+, and immigrant communities.

Yu Tsai is a Taiwanese-born fashion and commercial photographer and director. His long list of collaborations with Hollywood’s talent include Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Taraji P. Henson, Jessica Chastain, Jon Hamm, Anne Hathaway, and Forest Whitaker. He has also photographed musicians as diverse as Ringo Starr, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Nick Jonas, Katy Perry, and P Diddy.

He has created iconic imagery for international brands such as Apple, Guess, Coca-Cola, Pantene, Victoria’s Secret, Uniqlo, HP, CBS, Sony Music, Lexus, Armani, Sports Illustrated, Toyota, Coach, and Subaru. He has formed enduring relationships and helped launch the careers of many supermodels including Kate Upton, Candice Swanepoel, Elsa Hosk, Jessica Hart, and Hailey Clauson. 

A passionate foodie and cook, Yu Tsai is producer and host of a television show near to his heart, Street to Kitchen Asia. The show highlights everyday heroes at work in night markets and in family restaurants in Taiwan. It focuses on the heritage of the recipes and the generations preserving them.

He is based in Los Angeles and New York.
