WELCOME to the internal site for the Photography and Imaging Department at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Art Center is eighty years old this year and as the name implies, our institution initiates originality, art based ideas and inspiration and then contextualizes and constructs opportunities for those properties around design sourced vision, research and application. 


Art Center houses ten undergraduate plans of study: Photography and Imaging, Fine Art Media, Graphic Design, Film, Illustration, Entertainment, Product, Environmental Design and Transportation. Our program addresses the new complexities of media, critical awareness of culture and social responsibility with strong traditional training coupled with research, aesthetic, conceptual and technical exercise. Confidence is built on the strengths of our cross disciplinary collaborations. 
 


We constructed this site to better serve the needs of our students, current and prospective, faculty, alumni and most importantly our image making community. We have begun with a calendar of our department lectures and events and hope in the future to be a potential source for information on an assortment of shows, competitions, lectures and workshops of interest to artists / photographers in Southern California.  You will also find a page for photography resources, occasional articles and news on issues concerning our school and medium and works by our students, alumni and faculty.
